Seeking Tour Guides

We are running low on tour guides for the summer and beyond. If you have availability on Saturdays and enjoy talking to people about history and cool old buildings, then contact us today. Bonus points for those who speak multiple languages, including sign language. We’d love to hear from you.

All Museum and Jail tours are conducted by docents (senior volunteers) or house hosts from all over the Portland Metro area. So, whether you are an enthusiast or an expert, live near or far, all new docents and hosts receive training on each structure’s history, artifacts, and research areas. We even have tour trainees spend at least one tour day shadowing other docents.

If you are passionate about history and historic buildings, join our tour team by downloading and submitting an application to become an ECHO volunteer. Be sure to indicate your tour interest on the form.

Docent Training
To become a docent, the next training class will be held in the early 2017. Contact our Executive Director, Danielle Utter, to learn more.

Got Other Skills?

We have many more volunteer opportunities available, and are also seeking a wide variety of talents and expertise to help our organization thrive.
