Annual meeting with speaker author Michal McCloskey

The annual meeting of an East County Historical Organization (ECHO) was Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Our guest speaker was Michael McCloskey, author of A Glimpse Into History: What Famous People Have Said About Oregon and the Need to Conserve It.

In A Glimpse into History, award-winning author Michael McCloskey revisits the words of prominent figures in Oregon’s history who called for the conservation of nature in this beautiful green state.

A Glimpse into History is a winner of the Great Northwest Book Festival and the Independent Booksellers Association’s top awards. It features the words of over ninety figures who turned Oregon into the premier “green” state. They were explorers, pioneers, settlers, ministers, climbers, scientists, poets, politicians, writers, ranchers, activists, lawyers, and businessmen. They shaped the culture that saw value in nature and triggered demands for policies to protect it. Through their inspiring words, their presence is still felt. Oregon was blessed in being shaped by such talented, passionate people.
